News - Season 2010

It seems no tıme has passed since the joint opening of our green on 17th April. Tıme waits for no man, or woman for that matter.

The 2010 season has proven to be a hugely successful year for Glengowan Bowlıng Club - read on below for some details.

As we now look forwards the main events over the next few weeks are as detailed in the calendar however of special note is of course our FINALS WEEKEND that will be held on 11th and 12th September. Best wishes to all members that have reached any tournament final.

2010 Margaret Morrison Triples WINNERS	Lanarkshire League Div. 8 Winners

Well done to our Ladies who won the 2010 Margaret Morrison Triples tournament. The final was played at Airdrie on 10 August with both teams victorious on the night. Well done the girls.

Knockout Fours Competition

The winning continues for our Ladies who triumphed over Calderbank on Tuesday 17th August to lift the Knockout Fours Trophy in 2010. Our player on the night were:

J. Crombie (S), C. Mercer, M. Irvine and M. Black.

M. Tripney (S),   L. Dickson, H. Queen and M. Nelson.

Well done again girls!.

Lanarkshire League

Not to be outdone by our Ladies, the Gents Lanarkshire League Team earned promotion out of Division 8 on Friday 20th August. With a six-point advantage going into the last game of the league it was simply a must get points approach and this was achieved after a closely fought contest with Udston Bowling Club. On return to our own club the celebrations began. This is the first time that Glengowan BC has, in the history of its involvement with the tournament, been higher than division 8 and we look forward to the challenges that division 7 will bring in 2011. Many congratulations to the entire team involved in making us the division champions in 2010.

Monklands Finals

And within 24 hours of playing in the Lanarkshire league game Mr. Allan Stewart, our President, was back on another green in the MBA singles final played at Gartsherrie BC. The excellent news is that Allan won that match to be crowned MBA Singles Champion 2010 and congratulations go to him for this fantastic victory and success in the tournament. Well done Allan!
